Appleton Area Health Services is a 15-bed designated Critical Access hospital. Our facility includes acute care, swing bed and respite bed services.

We offer an array of medical, surgical and health services, which includes 24-hour emergency services, obstetrics and surgery, which include short stay outpatient procedures.

Our medical staff consists of three highly trained physicians and a certified nurse practitioner. Our nursing staff is caring and compassionate RNs and LPNs certified in advanced cardiac life support and comprehensive advanced life support.

Obstetrics
obstetrics Appleton Areas Health Services offer standard obstetrical services with an "all-in-one" room that will meet the needs of mother from labor to discharge. With a comfortable homey decor, staff attempt to make the delivery process as enjoyable as possible. All personnel are NALS and ACLS certified and many are or will be certified in ALSO and CALS. This is Appleton Area Health Service's attempt to keep staff as up to date as possible.

Rarely, situations will arise when infant or mother may need specialized care unavailable in Appleton. The doctors have 24-hour access to neonatal intensive care specialists and helicopter transport is available within minutes.

Respite Care
Respite care/swing bed Respite care refers to short-term care paid for by private individuals in the hospital setting provided to those persons who are cared for primarily in their own home, or are awaiting nursing home placement. Services range from board and care to skilled nursing care.

Swing Bed Care
Swing bed care provides a skilled level of care to those patients who cannot return to their own home following an acute hospital stay. Many times this is due to a continued need for skilled nursing care, physical, occupational or speech therapy, or skilled management of a continuing illness.

These services commonly are provided in the hospital setting by a professional health care worker when a skilled nursing home bed is unavailable.
